I've done that horrible embarrassing thing where you absolutely fall head over heels for some celebrity. Who isn't even all that talented and spends most of his timed dressed like a girl. But ugh. I hate these.

Re: General Chat: July 2013
It poured here this evening. I've never been at the foot of a mesa in the desert during a thunderstorm. And it was both cool and scary. It was scary because we're 5000 feet closer to the storm clouds here than I am in Florida, and so lightning was abundant. But it was cool too because the water poured down the rock face and made little waterfalls and deposited lots of sand and kind of flooded the backyard (the ~8 yards of it that separates the cabin from the rock face). But the water went down, which is good.
The bad news is it washed away part of the road (dirt&gravel) which cuts off easy access to the highway. We're hoping it's fixed in the morning since we've got one day left on our vacation before we have to leave and we want to spend it at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Which is over an hour from here. And it's supposed to storm off and on throughout the evening until like 1AM here.
Dinnertime! Late dinner lol, it's 9pm here.

I just saw a license plate at a gas station in Vegas.
It says:

My dad fanboyed.

I'm home!
My bed is so much more comfortable than the one I slept on in Utah.
And it doesn't creak every time I move.
Our water tastes so much better.
I know where all the plateware is here.
Snick purrs for me here. She doesn't purr for me when I'm in Utah.
And stepping outside is like stepping into a sauna while fully clothed.
And only gnats bother me here at night, not random insect larvae.
We kill palmetto bugs galore here instead of Daddy long-legs galore here.
Yep, I'm definitely home.

Welcome back Snickie!
Anyhow, haven't been here much as I've pretty much been in a power struggle with my computer and its many errors. Got some of the worse errors fixed now (I hope), but it's still not the best.

Re: General Chat: July 2013
So, I was looking at my News Feed on Facebook a few minutes ago (which I'm not supposed to be doing because right now I'm mad at almost everybody on there because of Zimmerman Trial crap and stuff), and I saw a post that looked something like this:
Then it dawned on me that it was a different Dani. lol!
I freaked out because I thought it was XL's Dani and I'm like, "....Isn't she going to college in Bradenton? What's she doing in Jacksonville?"Dani Madeuplastname wrote:UNF Freshman Orientation COMPLETE!! Feeling like a legit Osprey now! SWOOP!!

Re: General Chat: July 2013
I know I'm basically starting a fire here by saying it but I think the Zimmerman trial was a case where the legal system worked as intended and people just didn't realize that it isn't necessarily just.

Re: General Chat: July 2013
I'm sick of hearing about the Zimmerman trial.
He probably should've gotten Manslaughter because the kid died.
But it doesn't matter to me because it has no impact on me besides people everywhere being a major annoyance.
Zimmerman's going to barricade himself in his house against the angry mobs for the next few years, and he'll probably write a book too. And there will probaby be movies made about the incident. And the entire thing will continue to be overplayed until another crisis (big or insignificantly small) shows up on liberal media that makes people even angrier.
I'm done with this.

Re: General Chat: July 2013
I'll admit I've had enough of hearing about both that trial and the one where they were trying to decide if that woman should get the death penalty. I believe these cases should not get the media attention they do- there's a good reason the jurors aren't supposed to be exposed to any media coverage of the trials.
We really ought to change the topic. This politics talk will get fairly ugly fast.

Re: General Chat: July 2013
I don't like wearing glasses, but at least these frames are bearable. Er, well, they would be if the lady at the office hadn't adjusted them so tightly in the office.
And some days it's just easier than dealing with my contact lenses.
I'm kind of surprised (and a bit scared) at how thick the lens turned out to be, and this is supposed to be their thinnest polycarbonate stuff. I mean, I knew my vision was bad, but I didn't know that if I had gotten regular lenses I'd essentially have Coke bottle glasses.
Lasik isn't an option for me yet. My eyes are still changing, though fortunately they only changed half a point since the last time I saw the optometrist like two years ago.

Re: General Chat: July 2013
I think discussions about politics are great! I actually really encourage them if any of you want to start a discussion up. It doesn't get uncivil unless everyone is allowed to shout their opinions at each other, and we most certainly aren't allowed to do that here. That being said, I didn't research the case in depth, so I don't feel comfortable writing an essay on XL about it. I do think he should've gotten manslaughter, but there's nothing we can do now. What's done is done, and thank god we don't allow double jeopardy (seriously, even though I don't agree with the verdict, allowing people to be tried twice would be...bad). I also came out of this a bit more educated about stand your ground and castle doctrine laws, so that's cool too.
And haha Snickie, I'm the same!! I have glasses, and they're supposed to be the thinnest they can be, but they're still pretty thick. My eyes have finally stopped changing though, and I haven't gotten new glasses in two or three years now. It's nice because I always pick the worst frames at the optometrist, so at least now, since my other ones broke, I'm stuck with a backup pair that isn't that ugly. :')

Re: General Chat: July 2013
In the state of Florida, (In which I live, and own firearms) we have the "Stand your ground" laws. In which, they state that a person with reasonable belief of harm to oneself, can use deadly force to protect themselves. I fully agree with this. Being as it is though, only two people know what went on between Trayvon and Zimmerman, one of whom is dead. If Zimmerman felt his life was in danger, and it was clear by any evidence that it was self defense, he never should have been charged in the first place. However, due to liberal media pressure, political and public outcry and a an imperfect justice system, he was put up for trial. Additionally, it was highly unprofessional of Obama to comment on the case period, when a similar case happened just 4 years ago, and he said nothing. The only difference, the races were reversed. http://libertyunyielding.com/2013/07/20/obama-drops-ball-on-if-a-white-male-teen-comment/
Re: General Chat: July 2013
My (sort of uninformed) thought is that I’m kind of surprised he didn’t at least get something, just because of all the media surrounding the case. It’ll be interesting to see what happens if they go to a civil trial, especially since most of the controversy is about racial discrimination…
Re: General Chat: July 2013
And gun laws. Always the gun laws nowadays.
About race, a lot of people seem to forget that Zimmerman is actually Hispanic. He may be white-Hispanic (my mom and I are both white Hispanics), but he is still Hispanic, just like Obama is black even though he's a white-black (is mulatto an appropriate term to use here?). If people want to turn it into a race issue, remind them of that please.

Re: General Chat: July 2013
Isn’t it still racial discrimination when one person judges anther person solely on race, regardless of what race the first person belongs to?
Like I said, I haven’t really been following the trial, so I don’t know much about it…
