General Chat October 2013
This is the month with all the marching band competitions 'n stuff.
And also midterms (depending on where you go).
And the end of the height of hurricane season.
What is it to you?

Re: General Chat October 2013
October is the month of pretty leaves where there is no chance of an early winter.
On a completely unrelated note a guy in my school is trying to start a Communist Club. He's also running for the president of his grade.
It's weird because I actually know the guy, and he's nice but on the other hand that's a very radical opinion. It's a big elephant in the room.
I know that he has the right to his own opinion but is it wrong to still feel mildly weirded out?

Re: General Chat October 2013
October is a month of even colder weather, more school, and depression
I'm probably going to get a calc test today, so I'll either become super unresponsive, or just get manically depressed and talk about wanting to die.
good morning everyone

Re: General Chat October 2013
October is my birthday month and the half term holiday AND this year there's mcm too but aaaah I still have to finish my cosplay so much work.
At the beginning of next month I have my English language exam, my first real exam, I thought I was going to do fine...today our teacher gave us back the marks for the questions we did for homework and it turns out, I am screwed. AHAHA oh man there go my dreams ;-;
I have to go to a meeting tomorrow night about Oxford/Cambridge applications and what the're looking for -.- my guess is A* all around so quit being a pottymouth that.

Hold the phone. Didn't there used to be a Library section with all the stories and challenges and stuff?
Did it move? Am I losing my mind? Where is it?!
EDIT: Found it! It DID move I think...

Re: General Chat October 2013
That threw me off too, when I first noticed it...Thankfully, it’s still there!
Re: General Chat October 2013
The only reason I'm actually happy for it being October is because of Halloween. I swear, sometimes I feel like I even enjoy it more than the little kids who go out tick or treating..
Re: General Chat October 2013
My End of Year examinations just finished today Can't emphasise enough on how glad I am that it's over, though I did leave a lot of blanks this time
To me, this year, October is the month of terrible post-exam activities, insanity, masking my feelings and trying to figure out where I'm going in life. Oh, there's the tedious process of thinking about what to write for NaNoWriMo. Anyone started planning yet?

Re: General Chat October 2013
Damn, no. I hadn't even thought of Nano WriMo. What's the word limit?
Also, no calc test, but did get some homework. Swear to god, we're still on chapter three, still on review....

Minimum of 50k to win. Which I had never achieved
I have plans, but I can't narrow it down to a solid main idea hahaha

Re: General Chat October 2013
Aw, I could never do that. Because even then, it wouldn't finish the story. I wrote maybe a 45k fic in less than a month (maybe 4 weeks-ish?). But eh well. Good luck with it! I'd love to see it maybe, if you want to share...

Re: General Chat October 2013
Hahaha I won't mind, IF I ever manage to finish and edit it
I have no idea what genre I want to delve into. Maybe fantasy, or something more ... mature, if you get my drift? Definitely fiction though!

Re: General Chat October 2013
Oh damn there's NaNo too xD everything's happening at the end of October/beginning of November.
The university meeting I went to last night was actually really interesting, but it seems Oxfords English course is mainly literature based ;-; and I'm far more interested in language.

Re: General Chat October 2013
My laziness knows no bounds. I want to write, I CAN write, I have the idea in my head, but I'm just too lazy to type it out. Is it just me?
Also, it's supposed to be my school's marking day tomorrow, so I'm not supposed to go to school. But there are some WONDERFUL teachers out there who insist we come back for Leadership Training, which in my honest opinion, is a waste of time. We have to go to school way earlier to make ours ICs, and it's just...
The 'Student Leaders' have to go to school from 0830 till 1500 for whatever they want us to do, but there are others who need to report later, at 1230, because they aren't Student Leaders but are still involved in a community project.
Honestly, I feel like skipping it. It sounds really terrible (it probably is), and I feel that they could have just cleared everything some other time. Can't they just let us have that one extra, precious day of rest, before we go back to school? Apparently not.

Re: General Chat October 2013
I had SATs yesterday, I wouldn't have bothered, but my parents made me. Also have an English essay to write. I like my teacher, but she grades hard. Should have done my calc homework when I had the chance.
None of this matters though, because Pokemon X&Y come out next weekend! (And in a month I'll have nothing to live for again).

I haven't logged in here forever, because my registry got corrupted and I forgot what it was called.
In high school I took only the ACT test.

Re: General Chat October 2013
Just got some of my exam results back. I failed English Comprehension But then again, so did many others LOL. The cohort average is 23.1/50, I got a 24
I'm actually finding the whole thing rather hilarious

Re: General Chat October 2013
So, I've just got this problem. I'm in the theatre club at my school (we have 6 members, and only 3 that regularly make meetings XP)
But we're doing Glass Menagerie, so it's ok. Glass Menagerie has got 4 people, the narrator/brother, Tom (who's memory the whole story is), his frail, anxiety ridden sister, Laura (who's me), their overbearing, melodramatic mother Amanda, and a gentleman caller who's roll I'm still a little unsure about.
Now my issue is with the actor who plays Tom. And partly it's my fault, partly it's his.
So last week, on Monday, he asked me out, and I sorta freaked out, started avoiding him, didn't respond to his texts or calls, ran away from him when I ran into him in the hall...
He freaks me out. He's weird looking and he acts weird and he's just really off. And he plays his role TERRIBLY.
You're supposed to empathize with Tom, you're supposed to see a young man who wants to break away from his overbearing household, but who loves his little sister and wants her to succeed in life and get out of Amanda's shadow. You're supposed to see this ambitious man who dreams of a better life.
But this guy playing him is TERRIBLE. He's got whiny, nasally, sniveling voice, so everything he says sounds petulant. He doesn't grasp the role, he doesn't get his character or any of the others. He doesn't get what his character's goals are. He can't raise his voice, so he just sounds like he's whining!
Our Amanda is good. She's acted before and she gets it. I'm decent I think? Playing Laura is playing myself. Most people think I've made up the role when I tell them I'm playing an anxiety stricken girl named Laura...
The other guy never shows up, so he's kinda obnoxious.
But I can't stand this guy, he scares me, I'm terrified of running into him in the hall. He's always making dumb comments, he's made borderline sexist remarks, he acts about as mature as a 16 year old boy (getting all flustered over saying the word breasts...). He's gotta be at least 20, which is the other reason I'm a little freaked out.
But UGH what to do? I hate theatre because of him, but Molly, who plays Amanda, is really nice, and I feel I've made a commitment....

Re: General Chat October 2013
Can you really have the play if there aren't even enough people who regularly show up to practice?
Is there any way you could rope in some other interested people, and maybe get that creepy kid replaced? If not, it might be best just to quit. If only one person's dedicated to the show, there's really no point in going on with it.

Chemistry within the group of actors helps out a whole lot.

Re: General Chat October 2013
Ohgods, NaNo. There's no way. I couldn't even finish XaJu. I'm still having a hard time with that story. Holy s***. Plus school and everything... two of my classes end in November, so of course there's finals to deal with, and then family at Thanksgiving break, plus all the football games I have to go to at the beginning of the month. Adding NaNo on top of all that? -dies-
So in other news, I just got over a mild cold, but now I'm home and I haven't been eating as wellas as I should, so now I'm allergic to my cats moreso than usual. I love my cats to death but this is getting ridiculous. You'd think I'd gotten another cold with a vengeance.

Re: General Chat October 2013
Hey everypony! I haven't been able to long in for a VERY long time school work and all. Coordinating scouts, packing, 3 projects at the same time, 8 courses of homework all thinking that no other class gives homework. Anyways, I'm back in the saddle again!

Re: General Chat October 2013
You’d think that teachers would be able to grasp the concept of other classes giving homework, since they were students themselves once…
