Re: School
I feel like I'm being pulled in seven different directions. I'm in four different ensembles in band, two per the request of my band director; three clubs; private lessons for clarinet; and all of my classes in school and college.
Today I went into the band room to practice my solo since I get no practice time at home (it's just not a good practice environment, what with my dad being obnoxious, my cats and dog not leaving me alone, my bed calling my name, and being that those days are usually the days my mom asks me to make dinner by some cruel luck, plus I get distracted easily there) during my free period and ended up practicing through lunch. I got a lot done, but when I asked my band director if I could take the afternoon off so I could go home and practice/sleep/do homework, he lectured me on the fact that my decision to keep practicing by myself while I knew jazz ensemble was rehearsing just outside the door was affecting the ensemble, and said something similar about indoor rehearsal. So I have to go to perc rehearsal tonight and lose precious homework time. I can't drop any of them; I've already paid to be in them. And I'm pretty sure he's getting tired of me coming in late every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for my Calculus class and leaving early on Monday night rehearsals for my college English class.
I have a college audition next week and I desperately need to practice. To the point where my fingers and bottom lip fall off and have to be sewn back on.
Oh, and on top of music, I have school stuff I have to do, i.e. calculus, English, AP Gov, AP Macro, AP Spanish, as well as NHS and Tri-M (which counts more as a club than music related thing) and Art Club. I can't drop any of my classes, I need Tri-M and NHS for my college transcripts, and until I get my parents' Christmas presents from Art Club I can't drop that. But I come home every day and my brain is fried, so I just end up sitting on the couch and zoning out on my laptop. My drabbles are untouched. My drawings are untouched. My music compositions are untouched. And my mom's insistence that I get 8 hours of sleep (or else she'll take my driving privileges away) means that when my brain has somewhat recovered, I have to go to bed and can't be productive. I don't even sleep well anymore. I'm groggier than usual in the mornings but force myself not to be which I'm sure is only hurting me more.
My mom wants me to drop some stuff, particularly band-related stuff, but I can't really. Right now I've got a few minutes of free time before indoor rehearsal starts, and all I want to do is sleep.

Re: School
My school is so patronizing sometimes. My friend got a letter say that they'll be teaching basic English to foreign students, which is good don't get me wrong but I really think they should take into consideration the students they're sending these to. My friend moved to England just under 10 years ago, she has predicted A* grades in English, is in the highest English class, reads classic literature like it's nothing and she always says that even though it's not her first language, her English is better than her Polish. I'm pretty much reiterating what she said to me when she told me about it and to some extent I have to agree, but then again they still teach us about how to use commas and speech marks in form time =.= sometimes I wonder if my school forgets the age group that it's teaching, that or I should be worried about the mental ages of some of the people I go to school with.

Re: School
On the other hand, Kay, maybe not all of your classmates are like that? I think people do tend to hang around certain people, if that makes any sense, haha. Like, for instance, we were doing basic grammar in my English class this year, and I found everything super easy (and the people I'm friends would find it easy too), except it was surprising when more than half the class had a really hard time with it. You may be severely underestimating yourselves/overestimating your classmates.

Re: School
I suppose you're right Kelly, I mean when we did the basic grammar in form half of us were seriously questioning why they were teaching us this and the other ha;f were trying to figure out where to put the comma in the sentence.
I probably am doing that I just found it strange that the school didn't at least check the grades of the students before sending the letters out to them and just automatically assumed that because they're foreign students they need the extra help.

Re: School
Omg, I FELT EXACTLY THAT WAY when we were going over how to (get this)...make words plurals. I wish I were kidding, but we seriously took like half a class doing that because apparently people don't know how to pluralise words??! Like, they would do an apostrophe then an S instead of adding the right ending (like, apology's instead of apologies).
That is strange though! A foreign student I know has straight As and whatnot, while there are tons and tons of students who are not foreign, and they don't have straight As. Of course, there are foreign and non-foreign students that have good and bad grades, but still, no need to generalise. 8|

Re: School
sonervoussonervoussonervoussonervous Spanish speaking exam on monday, this isn't just a mock it's the real damn thing that's 15% of my final GCSE grade. I can't speak, my speaking is terrible but at least it's not french omg my french accent xD
Re: School
You and I should Skype sometime. My spoken Spanish is pretty awful too. XD
I can sorta speak it. But comprehending... we had to listen to some news reports for an assignment, and while I could pick up some of the words and phrases, stringing them together into something coherent that I could remember and work with was next to impossible. All I caught was something about portable water, like France, and 90.

Re: School
I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL TOMORROW. We had a snow day today and I WANT ANOTHER. #selfish
Speaking of school though, I forgot to announce my college!

Re: School
We should Snickie xD anyway, I had my exam and it went pretty weel, thankfully I took up the 6 minutes with my normal questions so I didn't have to do a spontaneous one
We're passed the point of snow now -3- now we just have perpetual cold weather until it decides to get warm again, which hopefully will be soon. I'm not a fan of really hot weather, but something slightly warmer than this would be nice.

70 is my favorite temperature. Around late April/May (at least here it is anyway)

What's more frustrating, a 211 question test, or getting an 80 on it?

Re: School
I'd say the fact that it was 211 Questions.
AP Spanish exam today. I am so done and with sick of Spanish. I'll be lucky if I earned a 2 on the exam.

Re: School
I did not see this before. Wonder how that happened...
Anyway. I am nearing the end of Year 9 (8th grade) at a school in Brighton and have chosen my GCSEs, which I start studying next year. The 6 compulsories are English Language and Literature, Maths and the three Sciences; I chose Mandarin, Spanish, RS and ICT to go with that, but I had to switch ICT for History so that the timetable for everyone could work.
More urgent: we have our end-of-year exams for all 16 subjects in less than 2 weeks and basically nobody's revising even though we should be really worried.

Re: School
Someone else who took Mandarin(I think that's the one I'm learning) tell me Enzo, do you have a nice teacher for this subject? If so, I'm moving to your school because ugh my teacher is just -.-
Ok, is my school the only one in the world that doesn't do end of year exams?!

Re: School
The end-of-year internals this year are A) to get us used to formal examinations and B) to determine the sets for the core subjects next year.
And we generally have Miss Yin for Mandarin. She's cool. She barely ever actually punishes you if you misbehave, she just looks at you like 'BTCH PLEASE' until you feel guilty. Sometimes we have Miss Wang, who is also cool. (I think only one member of our Mandarin department is British...)

My finals start next week I believe...or at least I have one or two next week. Is it bad that I don't even know? haha
Re: School
My AP gov exam is tomorrow and I wish it wasn't. I've been spending so long studying.
That's why I haven't been on much recently.

Re: School
I've been done for about two weeks now. Finally getting over a cold though, so now it's starting to feel more like summer break.
