Re: School
Legit so happy right now. I never thought I'd get above 200 on the PSATs. Could I have done better? Definitely! But I'm still happy.
Aw, Cya. Do you understand what you got wrong? That way, at least you can ace the sociology test and get a high B (and maybe a low A).

She's too contradictory. I already took the final, I just hope I did well. I did get an A and an A- on my other two papers, so :/

Re: School
Well depending on how the final is weighted, then if you only have those two grades below an A then I don't see how you could easily get less than an A unless you have less than an A already.
I know for my Macroeconomics final I only needed a 61 to keep my A in the class, but I don't know your circumstances.

I GOT MY RIFLE FOR COLOR GUARD!!!!! Finally after 4 months of waiting for it! I'm in such a good mood. Though I have to read 21 chapters in 2 weeks for APUSH, that doesn't make me happy.

Re: School
Dance exam went pretty well I think Looking at the A level group performing, makes me want to do it for A level too but ahhh the choices...well I still have the rest of yr 10 and then yr 11 before I have to make those choices
It was kinda embarrassing though, the order of the performances was "our group, the other 2 BTEC groups, us again, the A level group"
The other two BTEC groups were doing really sad contemporary pieces, one was about the Titanic and the other was 9/11 and then after those two dances you had us running on screaming to dance to Grease -.- way to ruin the moment.

Re: School
December ACT scores are in today.
I got a 32 composite! My lowest score was a 26 in math and that was only because I didn't finish (I had 13 unanswered questions, wah). Science was 35. Reading and English were 33. SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Re: School
So, my school has a grading scale that's a bit harder than most (at least around where I live). It's not like, super hard, but an A is a 95-100, A- is a 93-94, and B+-F are other things that I can't name off the top of my head.
So I go an A for my Pre-cal Semester which is amazing because I usually get an A- in math (you'd think that if you get an A- in algebra 1, you'd get a B+ in Geometry and it would go down. But nope. Consistent A-). Most of it was because I rocked the final (100%).
I just hope. For the life of me. That I never have to deal with conic sections. EVER AGAIN.
(I can pretty much spend fifteen minutes straight talking about my hatred of conic sections. BECAUSE THEY'RE AWFUL!!!!!!!!)
And I passed my anatomy semester with over a 100% due to bonuses. I also love the nervous system which was in the second quarter. The connective tissue chapter (first quarter) can go far, far away and NEVER come back. with the conic sections.

Re: School
Is it bad that I'm ready for Winter Break to be over? >.<
Idk... I really miss my Pre Calculus class for some reason. I guess it's because all my crazy @ss friends are in there. Lol.
I know next semester is gonna fly by QUICK. I only have electives, no core classes. Smooth ride up to the top for me.

Re: School
I was wondering if I could get a little bit of help with a paragraph in my English essay please. I've been staring at it for a while now and I can't seem to think of anything, here's the paragraph.
The Marshes are a big part of the community of The Woman in Black. Though offset from Crythin Gifford, the Marshes act as a gateway between the safety of the village and the imposing Eel Marsh House. Susan Hill often makes references to the odd, captivating beauty of these marshes and one example of this is when Arthur is on his bike ride and looks towards the “glittering, beckoning, silvers marshes,” with their “haunting, strange beauty.” The rule of three really works well in imprinting a clear image inside the reader's head of the beautiful marshes and it uses that imagery to convey that same compelling need to move towards this mysterious beauty that Arthur is feeling. The use of putting the word “haunting” before beauty could be used to tell just how big an effect the marshes and the house have had on Arthur, that simply glancing at these marshes sparks such an emotion in him and even when he isn't near the marshes, their image sticks in his mind, haunting him. However, the use of the “haunting,” could also be used as a reference towards the supernatural events surrounding the marshes and Eel Marsh House and how his memories of what he's experienced refuse to leave his memory.
Yea it's about The Woman in Black. Anyway, I need to say how " the supernatural events surrounding the marshes and Eel Marsh House and how his memories of what he's experienced refuse to leave his memory," this effects the reader...I don't know -.- I can't seem to think of anything.

Re: School
I hope this isn't too late (that's the problem with different time zones 8|), and I've never read The Woman in Black, but I basically put whatever came out of my mind on paper/internet. Writing as much as you can even if it doesn't make sense (which a lot of what I said probably doesn't) aka The Art of BSing is a proven method for passing English. I just make sure to edit a lot before turning my papers in.
- Spoiler:
- How do the supernatural events surrounding the marshes and Eel Marsh House and Arthur's memories of the events affect the reader?
-they give the reader the impression that something's not right in this town (if you're allowed to go in-depth about the scenery, you could probably tie it in here, because silver marshes that have a haunting beauty are, well, places you should avoid—the reader should listen to his gut)
-Arthur's memories further cement this impression by suggesting that this is something that sticks in the mind because of how horrific or terrible it is (gives the reader a feeling of apprehension, maybe??? IDK; if you have any of Arthur's memories, sticking them in here would help, and if you can get evidence of other people's accounts of the events to show more apprehension around the town and prove why the reader should be affected and feeling nervous; "haunted" is a really key word here, I think, the reader should feel haunted by the events and how they seem to cloud the town and affect the town's atmosphere and that in turn should affect how the reader feels)
-the reader should get a general sense of unease because the events sound like while they're uncommon, they're not terribly uncommon (something of a town legend if you want to go that route)
-the reader should probably be affected mentally/emotionally with fear, apprehension, a sense of dread of what is going on and what is going to happen and what already has happened, etc

Re: School
I’m also not familiar with it, but maybe because Arthur is drawn to the marshes, the reader also feels drawn to them…?
Re: School
Thanks guys this is so helpful.
And you weren't late Kelly, I have my assessment tomorrow I need to fill in my note sheet tonight -.- I'm pretty nervous about it since English essays aren't my strong point; history essays in the other hand I can write them with ease.

Re: School
Yeah, I really like writing history essays because almost all of the time, you'll have a lot of obvious evidence. English essays require you to find the right evidence, since at least for me, if the evidence doesn't work, then I can't do an analysis on it which trips me up for the next few paragraphs. 8|
Midterms are almost over! I have history and Spanish tomorrow which are two of my easiest classes so I'm happy. I get to relax (ish) today.
