Re: General Chat 2015
Well I'm sick of this Snickie. I'm coming after you. I'll be in Florida in a month's time. I'm coming looking for you and Atlas.
Re: General Chat 2015

Re: General Chat 2015
This sounds like an interesting project, but I have no idea what a visual novel is…
Re: General Chat 2015
It's essentially a text-driven game. From Wikipedia:Stella Luce 333 wrote:This sounds like an interesting project, but I have no idea what a visual novel is…
- Spoiler:
- Visual novels are distinguished from other game types by their extremely minimal gameplay. Typically the majority of player interaction is limited to clicking to keep the text, graphics and sound moving (most recent games offer "play" or "fast-forward" toggles that make even this unnecessary).
Most visual novels have multiple storylines and many endings; the gameplay mechanic in these cases typically consists of intermittent multiple-choice decision points, where the player selects a direction in which to take the game. This style of gameplay has been compared to the Choose Your Own Adventure books. Most, however, strive for a higher level of plot and character depth than the aforementioned series of interactive children's books. These can be more closely compared to story-driven interactive fiction. While the plots and storytelling of mainstream video games is often criticized, many fans of visual novels hold them up as exceptions and identify this as a strong point of the genre.
Some visual novels do not limit themselves into merely interactive fictions, but also incorporate other elements into them. An example of this is Symphonic Rain, where the player is required to play a musical instrument of some sort, and attain a good score in order to advance. Usually such an element is related as a plot device in the game.
Some shorter works do not contain any decision points at all. Most examples of this sort are fan-created. Fan-created novel games are reasonably popular; there are a number of free game engines and construction kits aimed at making them easy to construct, most notably NScripter, KiriKiri and Ren'Py.
Many visual novels use voice actors to provide voices for the characters in the game. Often, the protagonist is left unvoiced, even when the rest of the characters are fully voiced. This is to aid the player in identifying with the protagonist and to avoid having to record large amounts of dialogue, as the main character typically has the most speaking lines due to the branching nature of visual novels.
Re: General Chat 2015
I loved the Choose Your Own Adventure books when I was younger! I’ll have to keep an eye out for visual novels…
Re: General Chat 2015
Orlando is an hour's drive from here.
But only because it takes so long for me to get to the Turnpike.
My cat slobbers when you hold her.

By the way, I had the forum oddity where it showed no new posts despite there being a new one here. The only reason I knew was because I got the email.
Re: General Chat 2015
There's nothing interesting where I live, except for a locally historic landmark that's not even worth visiting because of all the wasps and the sea of rooftops it overlooks. And a couple of megachurches.

Didn't get another notification, this might be a setting on your end Snickie.Snickie wrote:There's nothing interesting where I live, except for a locally historic landmark that's not even worth visiting because of all the wasps and the sea of rooftops it overlooks. And a couple of megachurches.
I got in a car wreck yesterday, so no hunting down Atlas or Snickie v.v

Nope, I'm dead. I am being controlled by demons now, and I have no control over it since I have departed with my corporeal body.Stella Luce 333 wrote:What happened? Are you ok?
In all seriousness, I slowed down too gradually, unaware that they had completely stopped ahead. Had to slam on it, it was wet, and I hydroplaned into the guy in front of me, who ironically enough was a guy I've been knowing since kindergarten. Still shaken up, but physically fine.
Re: General Chat 2015
I almost got into a wreck turning off of I-4 on Sunday. I was making a turn, the road was wet, and I was probably going a little too fast trying to beat the light (which was still green). I didn't realize my wheel was cranked as much as it was until I stopped hydroplaning (didn't realize I was hydroplaning) and nearly slammed into the car on my left. I corrected in time but it was nervewracking for about ten seconds afterwards.
Notifications showed up properly today. I didn't do anything.

Re: General Chat 2015
The afterpanic always gets you. My automobile is of the lightweight rear wheel driven persuasion, and tends to like snap oversteer in wet conditions. Particularly due to it's near 50/50 weight distribution due to it being midengined.
Re: General Chat 2015
I'm hoping they don't jack my insurance. Because if they do I know my dad's gonna take money out of my pocket to compensate. My turntable savings.
Re: General Chat 2015
I don’t think you have to worry about that…It’s not like you totally wrecked the car…
Re: General Chat 2015
They're jacking it. We're currently trying to work it out with the guy's family so they revoke the claim.Stella Luce 333 wrote:I don’t think you have to worry about that…It’s not like you totally wrecked the car…
