June Story Challenge: Cliffhanger

Okay, from here on out there is going to be one story challenge a month. I'll be the judge, though anyone else can help judge if they so choose.

The topic for this month is: Cliffhanger!
Your story can be anything that you want, as long as it ends on a cliffhanger. You know, the kind that leave you waiting for more! It can be any type of cliffhanger you so choose (maybe they get big news, maybe thery're about to kiss, maybe even a life or death situation, who knows). As long as the ending is absolutely gripping.

RULES
-The Story can be no longer than 5,000 words. This does not include author's notes. Also, if you type it up on microsoft word and then go to ff.net and find yourself with 5,500 words or something to that point, don't worry. We understand.
-Please, no less than 500 words.
-Multi-chapter fics are allowed, but must stay within the word constraint.
-The Story must follow all the rules of the forum as well as the rules of ff.net.
-Link, don't post.
-I'd prefer T or lower. If you find yourself writing an M rated fic, shoot me a PM and we'll talk it over.

If you have a problem with any of the rules, you can also PM me and we'll see what we can come up with.

DEADLINE: July First

What I'm judging on: Creativity, as always. As well as mechanics, characterization, implementation of the challenge, plot, spelling, and thought put into it. Of course your cliffhanger will be very important.

Three Carthage Points are at stake here. Two for first place, one for second.

Maybe if I do this, it'll get me into the spirit to write my bigger fanfic project (believe me when I say it is a huuuuge fanfic project).

Ideal:
Me: "Hey, I just wrote this story for XANA's Lair. Since I'm still here and in 'the zone', I'm gonna work on my fanfic." -whips out somewhere between 3 and 5 chapters each spanning somewhere between 4000 and 8000 words-

interestingly enough, I think I'm gonna end my XaJuWriMo with a cliffhanger. Can't do this one, because I'm busy with that one, but I'll be interested to see what you guys do with it!

Okay, I've got 2500 words so far. All I have to do now is initiate the cliff-hanging and I'll be done!

I actually just finished mine! It's about 3,700 words, so not bad. I just need to check it over for grammar and spelling and then it should be up by tomorrow! I don't think I've ever had that much fun writing something (seriously, it was really a joy to write).

C: This is earlier than I anticipated, but here it is! My entry! It's a little disturbing and confusing since the original plot idea for this I've had for months and it was originally going to be multi-chaptered... still, I think this abridged version is okay for my standards.

...None of you guys can just write bad fics can you. It would certainly make my job easier. Seriously, this was a super tough choice.

I'm going to go with Hana-tan's for first, however. Snickie's for a close second. I plan to review both of your fics eventually (I swear, I'll get to it). So yeah, that's about it, if anyone wants a more in-depth explanation, I'd be happy to give it, if not, than congrats! Your CPs will be given shortly.
