Ugh I'm in a stupid position.
My very close friend has basically all but told me that there's no way we can be close friends in the long run, cause as soon as one of us gets in a relationship, he can't see us being good friends anymore.
This is basically saying that if the two of us don't date, we'll inevitably lose each other. And this is a new level of anxiety that's killing me.

That person is a manipulative asshole whom should be excised from your life immediately. If they aren't mature enough to handle you as a friend only, you shouldn't give them the time of day. You should never be guilted into dating by someone who calls himself your friend.

Oh no, I said it wrong. He hasn't said we can't be friends, just not as close as we are now, because he feels it wouldn't be right to his girlfriend.
And he never mentioned us dating, that's just me looking for solutions.

Why should he feel it wouldn't be right? If he loves his partner, and is faithful, he's not allowed to have other friends? I feel there is something amiss here. I've consistently kept close friendships with women while dating, people I've known most of my life and consider extended family. Maybe it's because I grew up with a sister, and know you can be friends with a woman and not uncontrollably desire them at the same time. Anyway, I digress from what should've been my original point, that is his problem, you shouldn't feel anxious about it. If he makes the choice to distance himself for some unfathomable reason, that is his choice, and his choice alone. There is nothing that can be done about it, except try to persuade him to see reason, reason being that ending a friendship for a girlfriend who might not even last more than a week is quit being a pottymouth stupid.

I'd imagine it's partly because his last ex wouldn't let him see other girls and they were together for two years (like, lived together) so it's a hard mindset to shake.
And he and I have an odd relationship that seems to take friendship a bit far, at least as defined by today's society. So I can see why his prospective future partner would be nervous about having him have another girl stay over and sleep in his bed with him and have him drop everything he's doing to talk to her and take her out places twice a week, etc.

Maybe you guys could start hanging out as a group? I think if the girlfriend felt like she was included, she wouldn’t worry that anything romantic was going on behind her back…

On the other hand, it’s always possible that YOU will get in a relationship first! You can prove your friend wrong by showing him that it’s possible to be in a committed relationship & still have friends…

I wouldn't be happy if my boyfriend slept in the same bed as another girl tbh, but I definitely don't see anything wrong with close friendships between guys and girls. Like, we're all past middle school here, and it's completely normal to have close male and female friends. The onus is definitely on your guy friend to learn how to deal with having a girlfriend and female friends (and omg I hope none of you would ever tolerate your significant other telling you who you can hang out with).

I remember failing those. If it at all helps any of you feel better, I'm doing pretty well despite that fact. Pulling 35k a year at a full time job that I love, at only 21 years of age. With an excellent career potential, and an upward trajectory.

I'm sorry for being so inaccessible this semester. It's been a long few months but they feel like they've flown by. I always get the urge to come here whenever I have a huge project that I don't feel like doing, but then I'm like, "But I'll fail if I don't do this..."

Anyway, I'm off for a month so yay.

I barely made it through pre calc. I'm great at arithmetic, but higher maths are just not for me, unless they have an application behind them, and none of that nu uh none of that did. Once you start mixing greek letters and acronyms in with my numbers, I'm out.

My grades have been withheld from me because I didn't fill out some survey.
Until tomorrow, that is.

I have a cold.
My mother doesn't believe that I am sick.
Tomorrow we have to deep clean the house. All of the dust and dander from the vacuum I believe will make this cold worse, but I don't have a choice since relatives are arriving on Friday night.
