Re: Books
Have you read anything Charles Dickens novels? Treasure Island and The Jungle Book are also Victorian Novels. A good bit of classic novels were written during the Victorian Era because novels were growing in popularity. They were serialized like comic books back then. Sherlock Holmes was written during the Victorian Era, although most of the Sherlock Holmes stories are short stories, but there are a few novels.

Re: Books
I have heard of Charles Dickens but I'm not sure if I've read anything by him. I would like to read some Sherlock Holmes, those seem like they'd be really good.

Re: Books
True. Victorian England was famous for long/descriptive novels. Charles Dickens had a gift with words and his work was episodic like naru said. You have to read at least one piece of his work.

Re: Books
I started reading Hunger Games, I think I'm going to like it. It seems like it's going to be dark with a lot of action and adventure in it. The society is completely messed up though.

Re: Books
I read at least a chapter from each a day. But for Jane Eyre, I broke it up into segments of 14 pages (I have a set date to finish it for class so I have to make sure I finish it on time). I'm pretty busy, so all I manage is a chapter, but sometimes I try to plow ahead, and I end up getting in 3 or 4 chapters. It's not all that hard or confusing. If you can watch several TV series without getting them mixed up, you shouldn't get books mixed up either. But it does help to have another mind to carry the load.

Re: Books
I've never read Animorphs but I have seen them. I always thought that the covers of the books looked really cool when I was little.
Re: Books

Re: Books
Did you know that James Cameron is writing an Avatar book? I'm so excited to read it! (And I'm talking about the movie with the blue people.)
Re: Books
^ Oh my gosh, really? What. How come I never hear about stuff like this. ;a; Do you know when it's coming out?
Earlier, I was attempting to read The Last of the Mohicans earlier for extra credit in English. But even that isn't motivation enough for me to get through it. Like I know history-based books have the capability to be exciting, but nooope, The Last of the Mohicans just reads like a crappy textbook, but even drier.
I'd probably even prefer rereading The Catcher in the Rye to getting through this. And oh my gosh did I hate that book.
And this is really random, but was anyone else here really into Nancy Drew when they were younger? Because I remember having a full-on obsession with Nancy Drew books when I was like nine or ten. I have around fifteen of them since I wasn't allowed to buy that many, though I remember borrowing all the ones the library had.

Re: Books
I never read Nancy Drew, but I was a really big fan of the Hardy Boys, and I think they're both created by the same person.
Re: Books
I finished Hunger Games on Thurs. It's really good, and I can't wait to read Catching Fire.
