On another note, my friend just linked me to this awesome anime-style Harry Potter fanart: https://imgur.com/A9o5X
OMG! That is the coolest thing right now. I say we go over to Japan and demand they make this a reality (it's real in the other side of my mind so I don't see why not). That'd make for an awesome poster too.
So does anyone know a series called the Escape from Furnace? It was reccommended to me by Barnes and Noble. In fact they reccommended the like three books from that series.

Re: Books
*Raises hand* I like Artemis Fowl. I just couldn't get myself interested in the latest book though (Atlantis Complex). I mean, I had it checked out from the library for like half a year (yes, I'm one of those people) and I just couldn't read very far into it.
Re: Books
I'm trying to get through the first fifty pages of JKR's The Casual Vacancy, but it's not working out very well. I might have to put it down and try it in a few years, hmm.
I really like Where She Went by Gayle Forman. It's such a good example of a book that really focuses on character relationships.

I'm not gonna lie, my reaction to the picture was a bit Odd. The first thought to go through my mind was, and I quote "Lucius should be older."
Re: Books
Game of Thrones is awesome! I just read the first book, and I feel like I've been missing out on something epic.

I've heard it has innapropriate content. My friend described it as "An older version of Lord of the Rings."

Re: Books
I've heard it's really good, at least the first one. It's supposed to be pretty violent though.
Like so many other books, I've been meaning to read it. Oh, how I wish my TBR pile were shorter.

Re: Books
The content is not that bad. It's more violent than it is lewd. But I guess it's the fact that the author comes right out and tell you in so many words, "yeah they're having sex", but it's not like he goes out of his to describe every single detail. In all honesty, out of the 800 pages, there were probably only like five instances where it was mentioned. It's the violence more than anything. But it is like a mature version of LTR, but I don't if I can say that because I've only seen the movies and I've never read any of the books. Having said that, is LTR good?

Re: Books
It took me forever to read the Hobbit, about half as long to read the Fellowship of the Ring, a day to read the Two Towers, and three-quarters of forever to read Return of the King because of the painful level of detail Tolkien gets into in describing the castle procedures.
I've watched the first movie, but I fell asleep halfway through.

Re: Books
I couldn't even get through the first Harry Potter book, so I doubt I'd get too far with the Hobbit. Granted, I was about 7 when I tried to read it ^^; I might try again sometime, but I want to read the Picture of Dorian Gray first, as soon as I can convince my friend to let me borrow it
Re: Books
I read the Harry Potters in 3rd grade. AWESOME. But re-reading them now, they make a bit more sense ^^ (BUT STILL AWESOME.)

Same, Vena XD
Though actually my mom read most of the books to me when I was younger. She let me read book 4, I spoiled it for my siblings, she didn't let me read any of them first after that.

Hey, I was like 7 or 8! I was just proud I'd read a 600ish paged book, and no one believed me when I told them I read it, so I spoiled it, to prove it. But yeah, I was pretty bad XD

Re: Books
I read them all in third grade too! (Except for six and seven, since those weren't out yet).
I read them in a really random order.
1/2 of Sorcerer's Stone
3 chapters of Chamber of Secrets
5 chapters of Prisoner of Azkaban
All of Goblet of Fire
All of Order of the Pheonix
All of Sorcerer's Stone
All of Chamber of Secrets
All of Prisoner of Azkaban
and then Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows as they came out. (I had seen movies 1-3 before I read Goblet of Fire- though I watched those movies somewhat out of order as well).

Re: Books
SHADOWSS, how in the world did you end up reading parts of each book??'
I'm so excited right now, because I just ordered an autographed box set of John Green's books. I've basically just been dying to read his books, and I've seen his Tumblr posts, and my teacher even showed us one of his crash course videos in class (they're like mini bits of history in ten minues and he just throws a bunch of info at you). And now I'm getting four of his books!
I'm getting them the day of my math final too, so I'll have something to look forward to. <3

Re: Books
I think I'm the only person in the world who hasn't read the Harry Potter books. I just started the series and I'm halfway through book 2.
I KNOW! I'm a sad, strange human being....

Re: Books
Hey, at least you're reading them now! I think Elly still hasn't got through them (and maybe the forced readings on chat didn't help).
I'm taking forever to read John Green, since I'm stuck on The Fault in Our Stars, and it's making me tear up which is making me not want to go back to it. But I'm determined to finish it.
