summer, 20 years ago was the greatest summer of movies. I think they're being re-released to theaters THIS summer.
I'm excited for all of them!! except for Rocky and and Star Trek... :/
And I love stop motion animation, thats why I'm excited for Paranorman and Frankenweenie. X)

Re: Movies
Oh, oh, ooooh... You guys...Where to start with you punk kids...
First off, I don't even need to see the Halloween remake by R.Zombie to know it wasn't as good as John Carpenter's original, which was a masterful example of what can be made with limited resources. I'll grant R.Zombie's version is probably better than the 5 films in the franchise that came before it (i.e. 4, 5, 6, H20 and Resurrection), but the original was the first ever true slasher film (yes, it was inspired by Psycho, but you get the idea) and the remake has never had and never will have a chance to be a better film.
Second, I'm never gonna see the final Harry Potter movie, sue me!
Third, Ghibli is awesome... I'll get more into that at a later date.
WARNING! SERIOUSLY OVER ZEALOUS RANT AHEAD!
Fourth, Hellfire, while admittedly one of the best villain songs out there (just ask The Nostalgia Critic), doesn't save Hunchback of Notre Dame in my eyes. Yes, the animation is brilliant, the main character is sympathizable, generally the characters are likeable, and there are some gripping dramatic moments, plus the villain is properly evil with both songs connected to him being awesome. However, the songs & their frequency torture my ears, the comic relief poisons my brain, and... -sigh-
I confess if it were just those 2 bad points I'd say I really like HoND but I don't, and that's 'cos of one scene: Quasi's humiliation. It's done well enough, and the intended message comes through loud and clear, but... my problem is the crowd. I don't just hate their actions, I hate them. They fear him one moment, and with one word they celebrate him, with another they torture him and with one more they cry in regret and pity for him. They flip-flop in their actions without thought for the human being in front of them, and at the end of it all... They regret their actions!? They care for him!? I find I just can't forgive them, and it's not because I really like Quasi as a character, it's because they were his tormenters, they can't blame Frollo and they can't blame his guards 'cos they started it. They, all of them, decided to ridicule and abuse a man they knew had never shown his face in public before. They can take their remorse and shove it where the sun don't shine.
I admit, it's good for a movie to make me think long and hard about such an issue and evoke such a strong feeling, but it just ruins the film for me, 'cos we all knew what was coming at the end. The people accept him, and he forgives them, making him a better man than me. They don't have the right to such easy forgiveness in my eyes; I only let the little girl off 'cos she wasn't there for the ridiculing.
-pants- Ah...ah...sorry about that, been wantin' to vent that for awhile.
P.S. I have Blu-ray through my PS3. I've got Ponyo (which is weird, but still wonderfully fun), Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, and... John Carpenter's Escape From New York City... Go Snake Pliskin! A man worthy of inspiring MGS.

Re: Movies
The original is always better then the first. It's what you grew up with. It's a part of your childhood. But sometimes, the new one can be good in a different way. I thought the same way you did with the new Clash of the Titans. The original was so awesome, I loved that movie when I was young. Then I saw the new one... and it was crap. The original is better. But sometimes they can go a different way and make it awesome. Like John Carpenter's The Thing, I love that movie, I've seen it so many times. The new one came out and it was Freakin SWEET! I had chills watching one of my favorite movies redone with today's computer graphics. It was amazing.
Yeah, some remakes are down right awful. "The Poseidon"... But I always give the new ones a chance too. I don't think it's wasting my time or rotting my brain. It's just verifying the quality. I've seen the movie and I know it was good or not. I don't listen to critics whether it's movies or games, because everyone has different tastes. Not seeing Avatar because 1 person said it was dumb. Which person is dumber? I actually met someone who said that. SMH :/...
What I'm saying is, JUST WATCH THE MOVIE! It won't hurt. X)
And the Quasimodo thing, I haven't seen that movie in forever.

Re: Movies
^ Oh my gosh!! Despicable Me is truly amazing.
And oh, is anyone here going to see the Hunger Games? Because I've just sort of confirmed that I am going. I'm not even a fan of it, but everyone I know is going (pretty much), and a friend invited me. And I figured that it'd be better to watch the movie when everyone is watching it rather than renting it on DVD like I was going to do. Plus, movie theaters have better ambiance anyway.

- Awww<3 They're so adorable.

I'll probably rent it, but I need to finish reading the book first before I even think about seeing (that's just in case I do go to the movies).

Re: Movies
Super excited for The Hunger Games. I rarely go to the cinema (too expensive) but I think this one's worth viewing on the big screen.
I also just finished the Girl with the Dragon tattoo trilogy. It was awesome, stayed so true to the books (though the last one omitted a subplot with one of my favourite characters), the characters were how I imagined them and it was just all around great. It came in a really cool DVD case as well.

Harry Potter 7B would have been so much creepier if they included this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tqz-hDbKHLE

The one at the end where Harry, Ron and Hermione are seeing their kids off on the train is one of my favourite pieces of music of all time.

Re: Movies
I love the Lily's Theme score from the very start of the movie, myself, when they show Snape and Hogwarts. It set the tone perfectly, I think, and really helped all the fans (myself included) realize, "oh wow, this is it."Soul_Jelly wrote:eseiprahs wrote:I love the Harry Potter soundtrack sooo much. Re: Movies
My favourite HP soundtrack is either Lily's Theme (which is Shadows' fault since I'm pretty sure she linked me to it) or Courtyard Apocalypse. I love/d that scene so much and the music is great too.
I've confirmed that I'm going twice for THG! What's ironic (or am I even using the word ironic correctly) is that I'm not even really a fan of it. I just happen to be surrounded by people who love THG.
