Asylum RP

They say there's something odd in the water supply at the XL Asylum, and strange happenings are reported frequently, although it's hard for an outsider to tell that it's anything more than a normal insane asylum.  This is the first sign that XL is not your average insane asylum.


We don't have any continuous asylum roleplays at the moment, so here we are!

Rules:

• You play as yourself.  There will be no powerplaying.
  
• One person can play the only asylum overseer who is brave enough to interact with the inmates once in a while.  This thread will probably mostly be spent creating this person.
  
• You can make the roleplay anything you want.  Chances are anything outside of the realm of physics will be considered group hallucinations because we all drink the same water.
  
• It is assumed that the asylum workers, terrified of the inmates, will never be seen, and simply just leave food (boring bland asylum food that belongs in a public school cafeteria) and water.  So, no NPCs.
  
• Do not, under any circumstances, loan out your straitjacket!!!
  
• I'd prefer that your posts in the RP stay in third person for clarity of who's talking, but first person is okay too I guess.
  
• This roleplay is level Orange. 
  

  A step up from the green, maybe a fanfic T rating. Mild, and I say mild, language is allowed, but bear in mind the forums own rules and filter, and also note what I said earlier, you don't always have to swear to make a point. Romance can be hugs and kisses, but nothing too graphic guys, at least not on screen anyway  Violence can leave more serious injuries that may leave scars/put someone in hospital, but no excessive blood and gore.

  
  
  
  
  
  

At some point I might post a general layout of the asylum facilities.  Here are some of the rooms:

• cafeteria - a large open room with tables and chairs, where the inmates eat. Fluorescent lights, white walls made of cinderblock, cheap linoleum flooring, metal tables, plastic chairs.  There's an open window to the kitchen where meals are laid out in styrofoam containers for inmates to pick up.
  
• kitchen - supposedly where the kitchen workers prepare the food, but this is unconfirmed as the inmates have never actually seen the kitchen staff.  The only access is through the open window.  The kitchen equipment looks rusted and disused and the entire place looks entirely unused except for the pantry in the back that somehow manages to keep itself fully stocked.
  
• lounge or common room - the first bit of color we've seen so far in this asylum!  A square room with six colorful bean bags, a television with an outdated gaming system hooked up to it, a card table with four chairs, and a bookshelf with some books, mostly medical encyclopedias and twenty-year-old magazines.  The walls are white and the carpet is cheap and beige.
  
• dorm hallway - cinderblock hallway with white paint.  Each inmate has their own room behind metal doors.  Each room is small and plain with a metal-framed bed with leather restraints and a small nightstand.  A small fluorescent light shines overhead.
  
• craft room - a semicircular room with shelves of art supplies (including safety scissors, non-toxic drawing and gluing materials, and things like that), painting easels, and two industrial sinks
  
• basement - contains the electrial controls, fuse box, air conditioning and heat controls, etcetera.  Lighting down here is poor.  It's completely off-limits to inmates, so of course they have run of the place. XD
  

I'd like the majority of the OOCness and plot discussion (if we ever do get a plot lol) to go in this thread, k?

Ooooh omg I'm so sorry for not approving this, I figured since you were a mod it was ok ^^; anyway, yup this is fine for me and it looks like fun too. I like what JeremysGirl has done with putting the reason why we were admitted to the asylum, but that's for you to add if you want. 

This seems like a pretty casual RP, but if it starts to get more serious with a bit of a plot, then just just drop me a PM if you're gonna be absent so I can keep an eye on it :3

I'm going to say you can put up patient profiles here if you want something to keep a reference to on why you (your character) is in the asylum.

JeremysGirl was convinced that her imaginary boyfriend, Jeremie Belpois from Code Lyoko was real. Her parents put in the asylum as a way to "cure" her. Before the staff left, she tried to convince the psychiatrist that Jeremie was real, yet she is still convinced today.

(Snickie, if possible, can you play Jeremie or will it be more fun for me to have a one-sided conversation?)

I think it'd be best if you roleplayed him as your character sees him, but perhaps add a paragraph on what normal, non-inmate onlookers would see.

What Liz sees:
"Isn't this just the best day ever?  And I get to spend it all with you, my love!" Liz says.
"Oh yes," Jeremie says.  "You're the most beautiful girl ever!"  He takes her hand, presses it to his jaw, and plants a kiss on the girl's lips.

What everyone else sees:
"Isn't this just the best day ever?  And I get to spend it all with you, my love!" Liz says to the empty space next to her.  Then she raises her hand and begins making out with it.



Or however you want to convey it.  I'm just thinking that if you post what she thinks she sees it opens up more fun stuff we could roleplay, like perhaps Snickie goes delusional and thinks Sissi's running around trying to steal Jeremie from Liz even though there's nobody there.

Asylum Pasta was incarcerated because he is convinced that the government is watching him, and that toasters are in cahoots with the government.

He also has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

If you read what's already happened in the RP, you'd know that all the staff are gone, the characters (mainly my OC got this started) are only beginning to figure out why.

Probably a good idea, I'm pretty sure that cutting yourself isn't allowed on Orange level RP's, perhaps a red level, but not orange level.

I'm not the RP mod (Kay), and her word is the final one, but until she's able to reply/give us clarification on this tomorrow, I'm going to have to say no on cutting yourself and/or stabbing people. Self harm is a trigger for some people, and imo, it's not appropriate unless it's discussed ahead of time with all RP participants and would also up the RP colour level to red. 

Since there are no NPCs, you'd have to stab one of the characters people are RPing. So, no on that too until we get Kay's word.

Aw yeah, rules make the world go round! Especially since there are no NPCs though, the only damage that can be inflicted on people is us, so we've got to be careful with that. But we're cool people. We can have fun without breaking the rules.  (and, it's almost midnight here, and the nighttime makes everything more fun)
