The XaJuWriMo challenge is officially open!

What is XaJuWriMo, you ask?
Read the details for this year here!

Here's a brief summary anyway:

Throughout the month of July, your challenge is to write at least 25,000 words of Code Lyoko fanfiction, preferably in one story (though a story and its related sequel is fine also).  Remember: these 25,000 words must be written and released within the month of July; if you wrote it in June it doesn't count towards your total word count.  (We'll be doing this by honor system, k.)  Throughout the month I will release three prompts or devices that must be included in your story in some way or form.

Use this thread to discuss progress, ideas, plot twists, or show off your beautiful, enthralling stories.

Released plot twists/devices/whachumacallits:
* broken wing
* complete transformation
* XL Asylum


To start us off with, I will release the first plot twist.  Somewhere within your story, there must be an event tied to a broken wing.

This kind of sucks for me, but the first chapter of my fanfic doesn't count because I actually wrote it in June, and I don't count proofing and revising as writing a separate chapter.

Anyway, I need to work fast since I'll be gone for a week this month with probably no opportunity to write.

Alright so here's my scoop:

I'm not sure if that broken wing twist is supposed to be literal but I did it that way anyway.

I really liked Tsunamix's post apocalyptic setup where his story starts 100 years after what was basically a Bad Ending for the original gang. Going to be awesome.

As for broken wing, I've decided that XANA was actually a duck and he got wounded in the final fight against the original CL Gang. Now he's going around trying to eliminate the remaining human population Matrix style.

Of course no one stil alive knows the terrible truth of DuckLord XANA and that'll be one of the great mysteries in the story.

Sorry for spoiling it to you, I know you were all going to read my story over like gospel :p

Aw, PK and Stella, I think it's a really interesting beginning! I've only read the Prologue so far (and I really will drop a review, I promise), but I like where it's heading. 

How is everyone else doing so far? I've wrote a measly 1.2k, so the struggle is real for me...it's not really from a lack of inspiration so much as me being super lazy about it.

Also, being out-of-state on vacation means I don't get much writing done.

Hmm, Kay, finding new music always helps me. I personally don't find random prompts helpful, but this is a helpful site! Rain also helps me think. You might also find making characters a fun exercise.

It'd be super fun to have everyone who's doing this to have some word wars on chatbox though. I remember last November, during NaNo, we used to do them all the time, and it was really helpful. Usually I couldn't use any of it (I am pretty much a super hero when it comes to writing a ton of useless thoughts/bad dialogue), but in fifteen minutes, it was easy to get three-four hundred words done! Something about competition really helps...

Something or someone must undergo a complete transformation.  It can be in appearance or in personality or both or any other way you can think.


In other news, I've decided to completely rewrite chapter 1 because I didn't like how it was structured originally.  It gave away too much information too early in the story.  I've decided to do a half-word-count for it: however many words the chapter ends up being I'll count half of it into my XaJuWriMo count.

Dumb question but is there a cabin we all have on campnanowrimo.org? If so I need some help finding you guys and I'm tired of roughing it in the woods :p.

On to the story. I've finished up my term's finals now so I'm going to try and take this a little more seriously than "XANA is a duck". I'm trying to put together an idea for an original story (still related to CL tangentically) that would fit the bill.

Like I said earlier I'm thinking about doing something similar to Suma's idea where the story is set way in the future from the events of Code Lyoko, which would allow me to basically make my own story while still having some relation to the actual prompt lol.

And I'll still get Duckload XANA art eventually.

I got ~2300 words written last night on the plane home!  It was dark and cloudy for most of the flight, so there wasn't much to look at.

Unfortunately, it was for chapter 2.  Not for chapter 1. XD

Stella and I are completely off schedule.    But, we'll still write it together.  It wasn't just for this, you know? 

But, next year, though, I bet we'll be ready.  I enjoyed this contest and I will still enjoy writing with Stella.  She and I are a great team.

I feel bad that I kind of lost interest in my story once chapter 3 was uploaded.  I think the whole chapter-a-day thing made me burn out really quickly, especially since I didn't have a chance to write chapter 4 on the day I was supposed to, and after that I was just kind of daunted by how much work I still needed to do.  My chapters were coming out at around 1.6-2.1k and I consider that short for me, shorter than I wanted them to be, especially considering the prologue is like 4k.  I do intend to continue it, but I hope that, with college starting in less than three weeks, it doesn't go down the same path Readon did.
