Re: Discussion
I agree that we need to split the categories up some next year. We started small on this one because it is a beta-run of sorts, and in the process of judging we've already realised how we can improve for the next lot.

I wish I'd been around to nominate...I don't usually read fanfic, though. Tekirai and Stonecreek are awesome choices - I know them of old - but if these fanfics are awesome I'll re-introduce myself to the reading world by reading them!
also I'm really happy GITM was nominated oh gosh .w.

If you stick around for a year, the opportunity will present itself again. There's your incentive for staying!
I really do recommend them. We had a great batch of recs/noms this year!

Re: Discussion
People's choice: While the concept is cute and all, don't you think we should have been notified of such thing before the event? Would have made the nominating process much easier and more serious instead of just nominating stories randomly. Since all of that is in the past now, how about categorizing the stories so we can pick one of each category to nominate? We have a decent number (22 or something).

Re: Discussion
I did mention that there would be some form of a people's choice (See topic: The Carthage Awards, page two). The judges talked over picking stories, but at that point, certain categories would have almost half the nominated stories as winners, which delutes the importance of actually winning.
Re: Discussion
Which means after we nominate stories for judging, we get to vote for our favorites too. This is not the case here where we're asked to vote for stories that did not win. Ofc having judges then being able to vote doesn't make much sense and thank god that didn't happen. I am saying had we known it would come to voting for stories that did not win, we would have had more time to read those stories thus making the voting process much easier.SeeMeInTheShadows said wrote:The forum does get their say, when all the nominations are over, they will all get put into a poll where you can vote for your favorite. It'll be a huge topic devoted to awesome fics where you can vote for either your favorite or maybe your top three favorites (yet to be decided). However the actual categories will be judged by the judges, who will be decided after a series of tests.
Romance/Humor/Suspense/Angst are decent categories to me. Almost all of the mentioned stories can be put there. Having a mixed pile of stories in one place makes it impossible for me to vote.
