CARTHAGE: Project X

Things didn't make sense. He thought and thought, slowly, painstakingly piecing together information for almost an hour, but it just didn't add up.
It was like having scattered pieces of a puzzle, some missing and some being forced to connect in the wrong way. Franz kept mentioning a "Project X" and how "they" were closing in. How he and Aelita weren't safe on Lyoko, how soon no one would be safe anywhere. They were getting closer and closer, and they were about to release Project X, and Franz's mistake would be relived all over again, only this time, by everyone. He made the worst mistake of his life that day, running away to Lyoko, and he would never be able to fix it...
And that's when the missing pieces suddenly appeared, when everything slid smoothly into place. A terrible realization slammed into him like a ton of bricks, jolting his whole body with horror. Jeremy parted his lips to let loose a scream, but all his voice had to offer was a soft gasp before a strong hand clamped over it.
