Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Okay, this isn't really a challenge, in the way the other challenges have been. In fact, this is a continuous one. Basically, each week, I assigne a prompt. It is your job to write a drabble based off of it. Now, here's the tricky part. Each drabble must be EXACTLY 100 words. Not 99, not 101.
Drabble writing in general and with a specific word requirement requires you to really think about word choice and what plot. A really well done drabble can be more powerful than a 100,000 word story. It also helps get creative juices flowing.
Drabble #1
Prompt: Picture
Begin Date: 9/3/10
End Date: 9/13/10
Special Details: None
This topic is for you to ask questions and comment on eachother's drabbles. I strongly recommend you do this. I will also present the prompt in this topic each week. Post the actual drabbles straight into the other topic I have set up. Then, come here and discuss your own drabble (Basically an author's note) and talk about and give constructive criticism here (basically a review). Do not post anything in your other post on the actual topic except for the drabble itself and maybe lable the prompt.
Remember, follow the rules of the forum. Keep it clean.
If you have any suggestions for prompts, send them my way.
Comments, questions, concerns? Seriously, tell me what you think of this idea.
(This topic needs more mature themes)

Weird... my story's only 100 words, but FF.net insists it's 109...

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
FF.net is pretty crazy. You don't need to go by it, I think open office/ microword should be just fine, if you want to go by it. The point is you were challenged by whatever you were writing with.
Oh, and just a clarification, I think that since each of these drabbles are only 100 words, try to post the story right onto the forum, no hyperlinks. So if you two who have already posted () want to edit it so it is purely your story, that'd be great. EDIT: But if you also want to keep posting them on XL, you can do that, in fact, you can use both ways (I insist that you do!), but I just think an entire topic of nothing but drabbles would be great!

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Oh, so we can post them directly on the forum? In the rules, it is stated that the story has to be linked. But if that challenge is an exception, I can fix that.
Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Yah, since it's only 100 words it isn't too bad.
Now, the reason why Fanfiction may say 109 could be because stull like "you're", "Jeremie's", "he's" etc all count as two. I dunno if Fanfiction recognises that-
--
Hmyeah, added something of my own. To encourage members, hopefully. Geez, 100 words is really short! I had to leave out so much small details..
Memoire, I like yours! It's kindof mysterious. Could you explain a bit?

I also know that (in my exprnce), if you go in & edit the docmnt & only add a divdng line somwhre (with out addng/subtrctng words), you suddnly have a highr word cont...
Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Rai: Mysterious? No mysteries here, Odd's showing symptoms of having a crush on Sissi... yes, it's her
I like Snowy's, 'cause it's so psychological and canon-developing.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
I'd prefer to post them on FF.net. Wider audience, and I just..... prefer it.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
You can do both, we're totally fine with that (it also helps spread the word of the forum) but can you post them both places, without the link? Like, have the story on FF.net, just don't link it here, post it here to.
As to Rai's comment about leaving detail out, yes, that's the point. This really makes you think about what to leave in, what to take out, and word choice. I have to do the whole, well, if I put these two words in, I'll have to take that one about, but to take that one out, I'd have to take those two out so I'd have to put this word in here.
Everybody's is great so far, more constructive comments later.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Oh. Contractions count as two words? That might explain it. I trust Word Word Count more than FF.net Document Word Count, and Word counts contractions as one.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Well, logically speaking they -are- two words, just easier to say when they're contracted like that. 0.o We (luckily) had to count those as two whenever we had to write an English essay.
Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Next Prompt. This is brought to you sort of by the Random Word Generator, which is pretty much wonderful. I actually changed the order of the words, but I think it works and fits in better this way.
Drabble #2
Prompt: Dark Instinct
Begin Date: Septemeber 13
End Date: Septemeber 20
Special Details: None
Have fun with this and if you all post again, it should be fun! If you still have a prompt for 'picture' you can post that until the end of the day. Notice, this begins on Monday (that's tomorrow) and ends on Saturday.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
I really liked yours Rai. And I'm extending this one, because I'm not gonna be able to update it for the next few days or so, and since only you've posted so far (I'll get to it, I swear!)
EDIT: Your new clue is: most posts.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
*holds a pitchfork* And I'm sure some other people will do soon, too!
Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Kitty did! This is a really awesome contest.
So, umm, about Kitty's drabble, it's actually a look at what the very original plot for Toy Soldier was meant to be. That's...about it.
Also, Shadows? Your drabble is so much brilliance. I'm absolutely in love with your style, and how, even though you only use pronouns, there's no problem knowing who you're talking about. This one is for sure one of those drabbles where 100 words is more powerful than 1,000 ever could be.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
This one was so much harder than the picture one! But I like them all I like the vagueness the 100 words forces into the drabble and... Yeah. Everyone's is just great!
Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Vague indeed! Yet it looks great, all of them. Snowy, mind helping me understand yours? ^^
Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Thanks Kitty! I think everyone's was great (again). Definitely a darker look at the characters, I think. But now it's time for the next challenge. This will be a shorter one to get us back on track. This one will also be a bit different.
Drabble #3
Prompt: A Different Meeting (read special details).
Begin Date: Septemeber 21
End Date: Septemeber 25
Special Details: The Lyoko Warriors never fought on Lyoko. Show them meeting or being together (they don't even have to know eachother). The rest is up to your creative judgement. They could be enemies, even better friends, couples, or maybe have never even been to Kadic.
It would be useful if you could explain the situation here, though, since so many variables can be changed.

Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
I like this prompt a lot :] Mine's pretty basic: the group doing whatever I think they would be doing if Lyoko weren't an issue. I imagine that without Lyoko, they wouldn't all be friends [I can't see them really getting along without that common thing to originally bring them together].
And I included Milly and Tamia in the end because, hey, someone's gotta find that thing.

Railen wrote:Vague indeed! Yet it looks great, all of them. Snowy, mind helping me understand yours? ^^
Heh, it's William when he's having that moment where he's remembering the gang when Yumi's talking to him and he's holding his head and screaming. I can't remember what episode it is, or the specifics of the moment, but I remember him holding his head so I took it and ran with it.

Interesting prompt, I'll get right on it!
Re: Weekly 100 Word Drabble Challenge!
Kitty, I LOVE yours. The possibilites that you show are amazing. I especially love Milly and Tamiya finding the factory. (The part of my brain that thrives on AUs is buzzing).
I posted mine. I wasn't really happy with the end, but there's always next week!
