CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
So the episode is on DailyMotion already. And I even got up early just to watch it.
This is the second episode in a row where it starts with Jeremie on his laptop looking very tired. I wonder if this is going to be a common theme. It sure did happen a lot in the original series.
So anyways, here we are. Odd has a new girlfriend, this Samantha person who is not Samantha Knight from the original series, which means he's been dumped by Elodie. And to impress her, he decides to dress up and comb his hair down, but inadvertently leaves his cell phone on his bed. So, in the cafeteria he falls down and the janitor spectre-dude picks up him and then attempts to keep hold of him while Odd struggles.... IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CAFETERIA. Really, XANA? You devise all these ways to run into the kids with your spectres subtly and in ways he wouldn't realize, AND THEN YOU ATTACK HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF A CAFETERIA. WHERE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT AFFECTED BY YOUR SPECTRES' STATIC INFORMATION STEALY STUFF CAN SEE AND HELP HIM EVEN THOUGH IT'S SOMEHOW UNLIKELY. ASGHASDHGSKDGHASGH.
And dangit, the scyphozoa would've been really nice in this episode. It'd pick up Odd while he's unawares, scoping out the Blok Master and doesn't have his arm cannon on and nobody else can get to Lyoko (except Jeremie, but we already know that's's not going to happen), and boom, XANA's got all the codes he needs and sets off to take over the network and then the whole world. Nice to see the kankrelats are back, though. Now we've yet to see mantas, creepers, digital sea creatures, and hornets. And the scyphozoa, of course.
So anyways, Odd somehow becomes....disoriented? Like, he can't put two and two together (literally)? I'm inferring this from the fact that Samantha thought he was crazy and that as soon as he got onto Lyoko he started counting and saying his ABC's to confirm the effects of the spectre had gone away. And since he didn't have his phone before, he sees Jim using his and decides to take it. Yeah, really smart to leave Jeremie's number in Jim's phone memory, but anyway. Yumi catches up to him and gives the phone back to Jim. But Jim takes her to Delmas to be scolded. Why?! She's the one who "apprehended" Odd, who was the one who took the phone in the first place, and she returned it!
I'd love to finish this, but I've got to head out, so I'll just leave you with this:
Odd's breakdancing as he entered the tower made me laugh. And my parents gave me funny looks for that.

Re: CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
As always, Odd was hilarious.
And um, TEN ROUNDS OF APPLAUSE FOR WILLIAM'S FIGHTING.
I love the blok wall, and I also like Odd's new little eye-patch-shield-analyser thing. I'm glad he's getting some sort of power, even though it's not very big.
I'm not sure how to feel about Sam yet. I hope we get to see more of her, and this isn't a one-shot-one-episode kind of thing. It'd be nice to see more recurring minor characters! (I still miss Herve, Nicholas, Milly, and Tamiya so badly ;a;) Though, my heart kind of broke for Odd when she walked away from him. I mean, she had every right to and I'm not saying that a girl needs to be with a guy just because he likes her, but poor Odd. D:
The spectre idea is smart, imo. Like, the supercomputer doesn't seem to be able to immediately pick up on the spectre changes, so XANA can fool the Lyoko Warriors that way in the future. Though I still am hoping for more creative attacks (ofc I get that they don't have the biggest budget, so who knows).

Re: CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
William is becoming one of my favorites. (Jeremie and Odd will always be first, to me.) I love how well he interacts with the group now that they've accepted him. His fighting is definitely a plus for them. Aelita's shield is awesome. I'm glad she gets to have some more power. I wonder if they'll let her use her creation ability (whatever it's called). Odd's new device is cool, though I do miss his psychic ability (and the teleportation was also cool, even if it only lasted so long).
The wall of bloks, definitely an effective attack on Xana's part. He's getting a little more crafty, but I guess he has his moments. Unlike the last episode, where the tower was completely unguarded. Jeremie's room is awesome (even though we saw it in the last episode). No Einstien poster, as far I can tell, but still cool. (Though, the mannequin with sunglasses creeps me out slightly...) Odd is hilarious, as usual. I did feel bad for him though.
All in all, a pretty good episode. The only thing is that the earth attacks are slightly...calm? I guess. Unlike the cartoon, where Xana just went after them, not holding staring contests. I don't know. I guess it's not a big deal and this isn't the cartoon. Oh well.

Re: CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
The staring contests probably have to do with the fact that the kids are essentially being duplicated on the same screen, and I imagine that overlapping them and doing hand-to-hand combat with themselves is a lot more intensive programming- and image-editing-wise than the splitscreens they're currently doing with the staredowns and whatnot. And if they didn't do that, they'd have to find stunt doubles or whatever, which means another set of people to pay. And let's face it, they didn't have the biggest budget for creating this. At least in cartoons the animator just draws both characters, no super hard intense programming necessary. Even I can draw myself fighting myself (though if I'm trying to animate it it would definitely take a long while).
That being said, I like how the polymorphic spectres change forms now. They did a good job of making it look smooth.

Re: CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
Is it just me or does it seem that Ulrich and William are becoming bros? AND I LOVE IT!
Actually I did like this episode overall. Samantha disappointed me for reasons previously mentioned *cough*whitewashing*cough* but then again, Samantha's character has never been a favorite of mine to begin with.
The wall of Bloks was AWESOME and so BA. I loved it. As far as the spectres, Snickie's right. The spectre changing forms now is nice and very smooth. I was impressed.
William and Yumi fighting together on Lyoko. Awesome. Odd's breakdance before going into the tower: cute.Though, like I pointed out on Tumblr, everyone gives Aelita crap for walking into the tower, yet Odd can dance and everyone applauds him.
Overall I definitely enjoyed this episode and I can't wait to see what develops with that video footage of Franz.

Re: CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
True. Very true. I realize that must be hard for them with a budget. Lol. It's just me ranting (wishing what could have been with a bigger budget). I agree though, the CGI on earth looks good. The transitions are very clean and nice. They did a good job. Also, Odd dancing into the tower...So. Much. Re: CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
The good news is that, if the show becomes a success, maybe they’ll get a bigger budget for the next season…
Re: CLE Episode 7: Compte à Rebours
FINALLY got to see this one, I'm so happy. ^^ I liked it. Sam is back, or at least A Sam, with a cool hat. ^^ And Odd looks soooo freaking cute all spiffed up like that. ^^
You guys are right, that whole thing with XANA's specter attacking Odd infront of everyone was kinda werid. I mean, the kid is standing there yelling and jerking around as if being shocked for a good half a minute whist being held against his will and only ONE girl goes to do something? O.o....
The Lyoko fight(s) were epic. William is still so arrogant, which annoys me (and obviously Yumi. I was waiting for her to smack him in the side of the head with a fan. THAT might help...maybe....XD) Aelita's massive energy field thing was cool too.
Best part...Odd's crack about Yumi and ninja's, Odd's crack about the block monster looking like a train station sign, and his epic moonwalking out of the tower complete with DJ sound effects!! I laughed so hard. Yep. It was defently a good Odd ep. ^^ XD
I LOVE the Spector face reader thing on Jeremie's computer. It's freaking brilliant, and they do a good job switching the spectors. It doesn't look clunky.
YAY cool episode!! (I rambled waaaay to freaking much. Sorry, I'm hyper, and haven't been on in a while.... ^^
