Offering my services as a beta-reader

I'm taking a break from any heavy writing of my own, so for the next few months I'm up for proof-reading anything that people want proof-reading, both CL/fanfic and original fic.

Credentials: I'm a quick but meticulous reader, an English major with excellent grammar/spelling and I've beta-read before with great feedback. I'm probably a better editor than I am actual writer, ha ha.

Anyway, yeah. Any genre, theme, rating, just pass it along via PM if you feel like you need a second opinion. I'm not a harsh critic by any means so I hope you'll find me nice and approachable. ^_^

English Major, that sounds great. So far all I've done is teach myself by looking at others' styles and collecting a few scraps of advice from people here and there. It would be nice if you could read over my original fiction; I'm looking for any ways to improve it. I'm probably not going to do any heavy editing since I'm trying to move along the writing, but I'd like to know how it reads. I also want to know if any mistakes/particularly difficult to read/boring things really pop out at you.

I think reading lots of different styles and such is one of the best things you can do to grow as a writer tbh. Besides writing itself of course. XD I'd be happy to give it a read

What is a "beta-reader" again?

Is it like a reader that comes before a reader?

A beta reader is someone who fully scans a story and reports on what they found to the writer and offer corrections, suggestions and other things to make the story better

Usually this happens before a person publishes a story but it can happen afterwards

A lot of times this helps people with catching many things that a computer program (like Word,) may not catch like typos that actually spell a different word
