omg snickie! Like...it never even occurred to me that eyelids could be fat and now it's just...i don't know, I feel like I'm going to be paranoid about that when I'm older. Constantly checking, making sure my eyelids stay fit and trim.
But on the topic of strange grandparents, my grandma. Just...everything. She has the mouth of a sailor and makes ordering pizza an ordeal.

Re: Charlas generales: junio
Lol poor Shadows. XD My grandmother on that side is pretty vain. Whenever she visits I will hear the "Why don't you have a boyfriend? You know, when I was in high school I dated all the popular boys. I wouldn't dare leave the house unless my hair was perfect and my makeup was perfect and my clothes didn't have a single wrinkle in them. Now, you could be so pretty if you took the time to do all that" speech at least once, all the while my mom and I are both mentally screaming "SHE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BOYFRIENDS." lol
My other grandmother curses like a sailor. She sort of tones it down when she's around us since she knows we don't like it, but she does let one slip every so often, which drives my mom insane.

Went to the lake yesterday. I'm burnt. Again. Lol, but all in all I'm getting tan as well. Someone stole my freaking sunglasses! I'm so mad!
Re: Charlas generales: junio
I was supposed to go to the optometrist today, but we missed a call yesterday asking us to reschedule because the air conditioning in the office was broken and it became unbearably hot, so now we have to go again next Saturday, which means we can't go to the beach.
Re: Charlas generales: junio
My friends wanted me to go to the beach with the for the 4th of July, but I have to work.
Re: Charlas generales: junio
Be glad you're not going to the beach! 4th of July is complete insanity when it comes to traffic!
I hate weekend traffic in Orlando. There are way more idiots (tourists!!!!) in the road than there are on weekdays. My mom and I were at the intersection of Universal Blvd and International Drive today by Wet'n Wild, trying to go straight at the light to get to I-4. But the idiots in the left turn lane coming from the other way completely blocked the intersection (pretty darn illegal) because they couldn't clear it and decided to block our lanes instead of waiting for the next light. Some cars pulled around the blockage, which was totally illegal. All in all, only 5 or 7 cars got to cross from our lane before the light turned red again in like 60 seconds. We had to sit and wait again, and got to watch tons of people who shouldn't've been in swimsuits cross in front of the car and stare in at us like we were idiots.
People who block the intersection are huge contributors to road rage and traffic tourette's.

Hahaha, every time I'm in NYC, I'm pretty sure I ask myself around twenty times, "is that even legal?" they're such aggressive drivers there
this is late, but welcome back Dani!! I thought I hadn't seen you around in a while...congrats on going to college in Florida!
I'm soooo excited for the Fourth of July. I won't be going to the beach, but we have an annual book sale and ice cream social around this time. The ice cream social is great, because hey, free ice cream-I'll never pass up free ice cream

I will probably be going down to the cape for the 4th.
I know, I know, the traffic will be unBEARable. But I've been invited, and will never pass up the chance to stay over at my boyfriend's house

It's a good thing the UK doesn't celebrate the Fourth of July, because traffic in some places is bad enough as it is. *cough*southlondon*coughcough*
Could someone describe a typical 4th o' J for me? I tend to be a little out of the loop with American traditions like this...

I don't know. Some people do cookouts, beach stuff, parades, ect.
We never did but I will this year because I've been invited.

It'd make no sense for the UK to celebrate the 4th of July (American Independence Day) because they ended up losing the war.Binary10 wrote:It's a good thing the UK doesn't celebrate the Fourth of July, because traffic in some places is bad enough as it is. *cough*southlondon*coughcough*

Of course, like most American holidays, it's been completely commercialized. Independence Day is often marked by barbecues, beach trips, parades in some places (most schools are out of session at this time of the year), huge retail sales, and of course the drinking that happens alongside most of these events. Fireworks are commonplace. Some businesses will shut down for the day so their employees can celebrate with their families, while others capitalize on it. Some people do patriotic stuff too, especially government institutions.
Some of our church friends are having a big party at their house and we're invited. My mom's off work that day, so she's probably going to insist that we all go there even though my dad and I don't much like parties. I'll play Balderdash and maybe jump in their pool, but don't expect me to be much more social than that.
Re: Charlas generales: junio
Stuff I'm sad about.
I'm leaving for camp in a few weeks.
That means I've only got about 14 days to arrange a trip or two down to the cape to see Conner. After camp, I have less than a month before he leaves for 3 months to go to Arizona. He's back early December.
F*** I'm gonna miss him. He was one of the few things that helped me survive (literally survive) last year, and now he's gonna be away for the majority of the year.
After being back for maybe a month in December/January, he's leaving for ANOTHER 3 months to go to Australia.
I'm happy that he's getting this opportunity. And I'm not gonna spoil things by being miserable. But f*** I don't know what I'm gonna do.
I just hope I can see him off...

Re: Charlas generales: junio
Thanks Kelly. (Sorry if that was wrong, I confuse some of y'all on here.) XD
So uh... Don't know if I told you guys... But I'm dating Colton again. xD Me and Christian didn't work out so well unfortunately. And also, I feel kind of bad because I instigated all that crap on Colton. Turns out he was actually telling the truth, and that his ex bullied him into going back out with her. :/ So yeah, I feel awful for that. But we're back together! Lol.
And yeah, The beach is hectic as hell here! I went last month, and I gotta admit, the beaches are nice, but you gotta be careful! NEVER USE BABY OIL TO TAN BECAUSE IT WILL BURN YOUR ASS TO A CHARRED EMBER! Lol. Yeah, don't know if you guys knew, but I suffered pretty bad 3rd degree sunburn thanks to that crap. :/ Wasn't fun.
I'm planning on going to Wet n' Wild here in Greensboro with my friends sometime in July. Can't wait!

Re: Charlas generales: junio
Third degree burns require hospital visits. They turn black and white and you can't feel anything. They're the kind of burn you'd get from boiling water exploding all over you.
Second degree burns blister and are really painful.

Re: Charlas generales: junio
And you feel little to no pain with third degree burns. Pain is good... if you like your nerves intact.

I think big cities induce road rage in the gentlest of souls...there's something about dangerous driving that just pisses people off.
The Fourth of July (I really wonder when we stopped calling it Independence Day, heh) usually involves barbecues, parades, and fireworks. There's a parade in the morning, around 9-10 usually, and then people tend to have barbecues or get-togethers with friends and/or family during the day (and I would say that most shops are closed on the fourth). At night, there's a fireworks show, and you usually go to a park or somewhere to see it! in my town, they also sell a little food at the fireworks show, and when I went in new jersey, there were all sorts of toys and food that they sold...my town's kind of too small for that though.
@Dani; yeah, that was right a good memory actually for being away for so long. and aww, good luck to you and your boyfriend.

Driving is a fascinating activity to experience some of the weirdest human behaviors ever.

My bad, it must've been second degree burns then. Lol my mistake.
But yeah, that crap was agonizing! I would not wish that pain on anyone.
Think I'm gonna have me a nice hot cup of tea. Iced tea sounds kind of better, but I don't have any.

Haha. I feel ya.
What kind of tea do you like, Snickie? I like Tetley's British Blend.

Re: Charlas generales: junio
I usually drink Tazo's Passion tea. I'm not opposed, however, to anything citrus-y or with cinnamon. We mostly have black tea at the moment. That and stuff with ginger in it, which I don't like.
