Word Mania

This game! It hurts my head sometimes so I'm not sure how popular it might become, but it's worth a try.
Le Rules:
You may either;
-Add
-Subtract
-Modify
one letter per post .
You may swap the positions of 2 letters.
The new word must be valid in a legitimate dictionary and provable in the case that there is rejection.
The new word must not be present in the previous 5 posts. No endless loops.
It may be a proper noun as long as it is something that everyone should know of, such as the name of a planet or state.

For example, if I said the word "lend" the next person might put "spend" and then the next might put "pens" and so on.
