Ghost Channel
Ok, so, I must be really weird. I've recently discovered that I have an addiction with this episode (along with a few others). So, I decided to start a discussion about it. Yeah!
Re: Ghost Channel
It's been one of my favourites since the first time I saw it. ^^ The reason probably is a very good Xana attack and quite an epic ending. With good music to support it. Lovely how Aelita saves the day, too- and Jeremie going to Lyoko, even though that's barely noticeable.
Re: Ghost Channel
I love this one, too! It relly shows how strng ther frendshp is, & it gives us a tiny bit of Jeremy + Alita fluff...
Re: Ghost Channel
I like the whole glitching-reality, 1984-style thing going. Like the Sissi repeat, and the flower that became a camera.
(For those of you who don't know: 1984 is a book about a man who believes he is being spied on by the sinister Big Brother.)

Re: Ghost Channel
(I read the book "1984" ... which is how I got off topic in the main character section one time. It's a good book. )
- Continuing with the topic-
I like how it portrays XANA as not the flawless program it deemed itself to be. I mean, he thinks only in logic, and he does not see the obvious friendship between Jeremie and the rest of the gang, and ignores the possibility that Jeremie might risk his own life for others, if they were in danger of XANA.
I also liked that it was the first time Aelita saved the day without the help of the others (well, besides in the beginning). That one was probably a lamp-shading of her later abilities... probably.

Re: Ghost Channel
And it, in a way, explains why Xana wants to kill humans. Jeremie acted unpredictably. Xana works on logic, and likes everything to be neat and tidy.

Re: Ghost Channel
That's kind of a crepy way to thnk of XANA (that he wants to kill us becase we don't alwys act logcel), but yet I like it...
Re: Ghost Channel
Yay for logic!
...Xana-Jeremie is creepy, but in a really cool way. Like the wire cocoon that trapped Jer.

Re: Ghost Channel
This is definitely one of Xana's best attacks. I mean, if they were in the real world, Xana would have killed them all. I like a good Xana vs Jeremy moment. He sure does sound creepy. I also love how Aelita saves the day all by herself. Go Aelita! Lol!
Re: Ghost Channel
In honor of this topic, I went and rewatched it. It's really an interesting attack, and you have to wonder why Xana didn't use it later. I mean, even if you realize you're in an alternate reality, you can't do much. And it really does highlight the difference between Xana and humans, which I think is cool.
Re: Ghost Channel
Distnt Memry is sort of simler, thogh...I thnk Jeremy even refrnces Ghst Channl in that ep...
Re: Ghost Channel
I like how Aelita uses Creativity to destroy the Sim Bubble. Maybe instead of deactivating towers, she could just use that power to destroy them all?
Then Xana couldn't attack Earth.

Re: Ghost Channel
Yay for looking into old topics! ^-^ Anyway, this one was my favorite because the epic Xana attack. Anyone else notice how going from S1-S4 the Xana attacks seemed to be less dangerous? In the first season they mentioned death and potential death, but not really toward S2-S4. That could be because CL changed ownership between S1 and S2 and actually got a plot, though.... XD

You do have a point about the attacks.
One of the few episodes that I remember clearly.

Re: Ghost Channel
After watching this episode again, I do remember it being a favorite at one time, a feeling that was renewed recently. It helps me to remember exactly why I loved Jeremie as a character, even though he can, at times, seem useless other than the fact that he's the one behind the screen. Ghost Channel showed us the original courageous Jeremie, the first time he took on "himself," and just helped to develop his character, something that he hadn't really had a chance to do, simply being the computer nerd of the gang. Each worry he had for his friends' safety, all the effort he put into escaping from the clutches of authority when he realized the true danger, and, most importantly, his actual trip into Lyoko proved him to be more of an asset to the team than anyone realized. It was also evidence that he truly loves his friends and is willing to risk everything just to make sure they're safe.
I'm going to take the primary focus away from Jeremie for a second, though, and talk about the actual environment of the episode. This is one of the more horror-like episodes of the first season, and all of the suspense really makes it quite interesting. Seeing as I adore creepy things for some strange reason, this episode really makes a mark there. I know the flower and repetition glitches were mentioned already, but I also love the zombified versions of Nick, Herve, and Jim. Why? I'm not quite sure, but it just adds that extra element of terror.
Also (yes, we're now back to Jeremie) XANA-Jeremie seems like an uncharacteristically angry version of the real boy at first, but quickly transforms into the cold, heartless beast that is XANA, and the "it's not logical" transformation and as he tried to kill the four, just over-the-top, insanely eerie. I love it.
I definitely have more to say, but I won't bore you all with putting it in one post. I just thought I'd share part of my opinion of one of my favorite episodes. Hooray for Jeremie-centric, epic episodes!

Re: Ghost Channel
Definitely. I think that what you said is true there, Twiggy. It really did help to develop Jeremie's personality. X3

Re: Ghost Channel
In a sense he became a person, rather than an extension of the computer. In nearly every episode, we find Jeremie behind the computer screen, doing something or other for the better of Lyoko or just his own personal needs. This time around, we really get to see deep into his every facet and find out that he's just as thoughtful and interesting as everyone else. <3
Re: Ghost Channel
Yup! I kind of feel bad for Jeremie, being the only computer nerd. I mean, everyone else gets to go and live their lives, but he has to work on program after program to make sure that everything goes smoothly or to make things easier for everyone else...

Re: Ghost Channel
One of the most epic episodes of first season, I have to agree with you.
(Everyone in Polish cl fandom is marking about this as their favorite).
Though I have seen in after I watched season 2, and I must say that Jeremie has a similar epicness in the Franz Hopper episode. But still the idea is awesome, and this episode had more suspense than any other.
Friendship is a great thing, and the XANA-Jeremie is the cold badass from the beginning.
I liked it. Very much.

Re: Ghost Channel
Not one of my favorite episodes but still high on the list because of something I noticed.
Proof that Jim was in the military!
When Jeremy is watching Odd and Ulrich on the monitor during Phys Ed. I had to rewind it. "Wait, what! Are they doing PRT?"
Jim is walking the class to the field in a 2 rank formation. Then it shows them later. Double arm variable, open rank, staggered formation. And doing the first exercise of the first conditioning drill(Preparation Drill) 'The Bend and Reach'. Jim was in the military.
I know its a replica Jim, but he's based off the original, that's why Odd and Ulrich didn't expect anything at that time.
Wow. Army PRT in Code Lyoko. One of the many reasons why I love Code Lyoko. X)

Re: Ghost Channel
Hm? Didn't the real Jim say something about it in False Lead? The scene in Ghost Channel can be Xana looking for a routine to make the fake Jim do, but I don't doubt he was in the military at some point.
Re: Ghost Channel
Ghost channel is a good episode because its not ulrich odd and yumi protecting aelita and the word its jermey and aelita protecting ulrich odd and yumi and the world.

Re: Ghost Channel
I always thought the "IT'S NOT LOGICAL!NOT LOGICAL!IT'S NOT LOGICAL!!!" tantrum that XANA-Jeremie had was one of the best moments of the show. But let's just face it,trapping Odd,Ulrich, and Yumi in an alternate reality was pure genius.I think this episode not only brought Jeremie to life as an actual character, but X.A.N.A as well.
As a side note,I've always wondered why X.A.N.A didn't send a bunch of megatanks and krabes to guard the reality.
