Presents!
In my years of living, all I know is that I've given/gotten some weeeeird stuff. Making the list for most memorable I have
Recieved
A Roll of Toilet Paper
A Used Tae Bo Workout Video
Another Roll of Toilet Paper
A Rhino T-Shirt
Worst Case Scenario Survival Guide: Paranormal Edition
A Bottle of Colon Cleansers
Given
An Outhouse Calander
A Goats in Trees Calander
A Yoga Dogs Calander
A John Deer Santa Clause Hat
Frankie the Fish. From the McDonalds Commercial. Yes, you can buy them, no, I did not spend 35 bucks for it. It was on Ultra Clearance, can you imagine?
About the calander things...it's a long story, but there's this store a bit away from my house, and they have the coolest calanders.
I kid you not.
These Things Exist
So what you gotten/recieved that is memorable. Either in my way or your way. What would you like to get/recieve?

Re: Presents!
A roll of toilet paper what? I'm jealous of whoever got your Frankie the Fish though.
The weirdest things I've gotten/given are mostly joke gifts with friends.
As for what I'd like to get, I just like to get new clothes. I could probably use for money too, just so I can buy the chalk paint I've been dying for. I'm currently redecorating my room (or, well, attempting to), so it definitely costs quite a bit to get paint and things like that.
I'm also totally open to books! <3 I love Barnes and Noble. It would make me ten kinds of happy if I got a Barnes and Noble gift card.

Re: Presents!
I gave the fish to my dad. It's in his office. I think.
I like Barnes and Noble, but it super expensive, so I walk in with a $30 gift certificate and walk out with a book and five bucks left. I'll probably get some gift cards for there soon anyway (though the one by my house shut down) soon, which will work for when I buy the next Heroes of Olympus book. Though Sam's Club has super cheap books. (I don't get Sam's Club gift certificates, thank goodness. )

Re: Presents!
That's quite an interesting accumulation, Shadows. XD
I received a boomerang once, which is rather strange to me as I never once in my entire life expressed an interest in boomeranging. That's about all I can think of though.
Barnes and Noble is lovely, but sadly too expensive for me 98% of the time.

Re: Presents!
I think it depends on what you buy. Or it might be just because of where I live. Though in my experience, things tend to be a b9t more expensive here, barring clothes (I really didn't know that it was possible to get avocados for a dollar. A dollar!).
The books I buy there are usually around ten or fifteen dollars. I love the kids' sets that they have though. My friend and I almost bought this kids' spa set. But we didn't. And guys, I miss Borders. I'd drag my friends there just so I could sit in Borders and read and buy books. And then it shut down!

I have interesting friends. They're also a bit lazy and one likes goodwill too much for her own good.Soul_Jelly wrote:That's quite an interesting accumulation, Shadows. XD
I have prevented myself from buying a large box of pre-packaged Parmesan Cheese, however. Or a travelocity roaming gnome. I almost gave one of my best friends a book about turtles with MIley Cyru's face glowed over the turtle heads (I would do the gluing). I think my judgement is pretty good, in hind sight.
Re: Presents!
Our family consists mainly of conservatives, so one year for Christmas we gave my paternal grandmother a Chia-Obama. You know, those orange heads that you could water and green stuff would grow off the top? Yup, we did. XD They still have it, too.
Every year, without fail, each one of us receives socks and underwear from said paternal grandparents. It's always a surprise what's going to be on them from year to year. One year I got PowerPuff Girls day-of-the-week underwear and a pair of rainbow toe socks (which, sadly, are worn through the big toe now) another year. My dad asks for those socks with the rubber grippies (he has MS so he tends to fall a lot).
Just so you guys know, I don't have much of an interest in Johnny Depp except for the fact that he is Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, which I love. For my birthday last year, my best friend Crunchy gave me a life-size cardboard standup of Jack Sparrow from At World's End, and included a note that I could practice pecking on him. She got herself a life-size Johnny-Depp-Mad-Hatter cardboard standup too.
Last Christmas, I asked for a silver polishing cloth. And I got it. Now my clarinet keys are so shinyyyy!!! <3
My dad got a shaman walking stick thing for his birthday. It's got little feathers sticking out of the head, and it just stares at you. It's so creepy. XD He also got a hippopotamus tooth.
For Christmas, he got bear feet slippers. I kid you not: they look like bears' feet, claws and all (though they're fake claws). And my cats try to eat them.
My dad and my paternal grandmother got each other the exact same model of these nailclippers that have a dispenser thingy (so the clippings don't fly everywhere) and a magnifying glass and an LED light. So they traded.
I'll probably think of some more later.

Re: Presents!
I think one of the weirdest gifts I've ever received was a bald cap from my friend when she went to Belgium (-.-")
One of the weirdest ones I've given was probably a note book that had one of those pug dogs on it wearing a bow-tie, bowler hat and some really colourful sunglasses XD I got it from the randomest(its a word now ;P) shop ever when I was in France last year.

Re: Presents!
Reviving this thread because it's nearing Christmas!
I may or may not have completely slacked off on my present-buying. I was really meaning to do it this weekend, but time slipped away from me.

I don't think I'm doing presents this year.
I don't know what to give, I don't have money, I have no skills. So blah.

Re: Presents!
If my brother didn't have an account here, I would post what I'm getting him (he hasn't been on in months, but I don't really trust fate enough to post it). But let it be known that I'm really proud of it.
Also, for my birthday, I recieved a microwave cookbook from my best friend.

Re: Presents!
You can never go wrong with a microwave cookbook. And it'll probably be useful in college, anyway.
I'm shopping online right now. I technically have homework, but I want to get at least some of it out of the way. I have so much shopping to do. But it's hard! I want to make the presents the same amount of money/quality.

Re: Presents!
Yeah, homemade gifts are hard to make. ;a;
For what it's worth, though this was in addition to gifts, I made my friends stupid posters last year with inside jokes and references they're understand on them. It was really fun making them, and we laughed when I gave them to them since they were a reminder of good memories.
Homemade bracelets and necklaces can be really pretty too. Beads can get expensive though.

Once (I forget when it was), my grandmother gave my dad a collectable doll for a local sports team, which looked really creepy…as in, It Will Attack Us While We Sleep creepy…
Re: Presents!
I collect porcelain dolls, and I'd LOVE to get one for Christmas (though I don't think I will )

Re: Presents!
So, it's Christmas Day in Australia. And so Christmas would reach around the world soon enough. So I guess we can share what we had got for Christmas
Anyway, I haven't really gotten anything on the day. But I did get an early Christmas/21st birthday present.
I got a ticket to see the Delai Lama speak in Melbourne Australia. Which is really huge considering that he's considered the most important person in the world. The speech is on the 18th June 2013, so I'm really looking forward to that day.
So what did everyone get?

Re: Presents!
I got the Lord of the Rings animated 1980s version on DVD, and brave, and awesome zombie t-shirt, and some chocolate. That's it so far. I can't open anything else until a few hours' time

Re: Presents!
I have to wait probably about another 9 hours or so before I find out all I got this year.
Re: Presents!
I'm usually really happy about living in the EST time zone since that's where a lot of the active internet users are (and the Australian users are usually far enough ahead that they're on with us, so that comprises like most of the English-speaking internet), except NOT THIS TIME. It's more than two hours till midnight.
I'm just sitting here, awaiting my presents. It looks like a laptop-shaped box, except I know it isn't a laptop because I have a Macbook and when I got it, my dad was like "you are not getting another laptop until college". The suspense is killing meee.

Re: Presents!
New compy, new printer, new robe, colored pencils, socks, antique pocketwatch, pajama bottoms, and some anti spyware software. I'd say this year was a success.
Re: Presents!
Not much for me, as most of my Christmas money goes toward summer camp.
What I did get: TARDIS earrings, a most epic mask, a Doctor Who calendar, and a hoodie. I gave a bunch of confectionary Doctor Who stuff, a TARDIS for both my little siblings and a Dalek for my older sis.
