Reputation
The world is not black and white. There are many different shades of people and factions that inhabit it, and that includes the Arena.
Reputation is the method used to keep track of your most basic morality in regards to the Arena.
Some characters tilt towards the blue side, such as Railen. The blue side offers abilities that tend to cost less energy than normal abilities, but only those trusted among the LW organization have access to them. When cruising through the Shop, make sure to see if you have the required reputation. These skills require a positive reputation.
In contrast, the purple abilities are often far more powerful, but only those willing to bend the traditional rules of society will attain them. These skills require a negative reputation.
Purple and Blue abilities and items tend to be more effective against their opposing kind, and less effective against their own kind.
When cruising through the Shop, make sure to see if you have the required reputation.
Abilities and items are not the only things Reputation is good for. There are other forces working in the shadows, who may be seeking certain kinds of individuals that leans towards their way of thinking.
But above all else, keep in mind that Reputation is simply a number. You never really know how other in the Arena judge you, and while that number is significant from a practical standpoint, your actions will hold more weight than it.
